LIST OF PRIORITIES
Implementing term limits for government officials and appointing a new state auditor could significantly enhance political accountability and efficiency. Term limits would prevent the entrenchment of power and encourage fresh perspectives within the government, while a new state auditor could provide a more rigorous and independent examination of public finances. Together, these reforms aim to invigorate the political landscape, reduce corruption, and ensure that taxpayer dollars are managed with greater transparency and integrity.
Property taxes keep rising as does revenue surplus in Topeka with no relief in sight. Lowering property taxes, along with implementing a refund mechanism for any surplus revenue, underscores a commitment to fiscal responsibility and respect for taxpayers' contributions. Home ownership should be affordable for new families and for seniors getting priced out of the market. These measures not only ease financial pressures but also affirm the guiding principle that, ultimately, it’s your money!
To ensure a robust education system, it’s crucial to protect and strengthen K-12 funding, prioritizing allocations that directly benefit classroom instruction and teacher salaries. By increasing investment in teacher pay, we attract and retain high-quality educators who are essential for student success. Additionally, expanding vocational programs provides valuable skills and career pathways for students, enhancing their future opportunities. Redirecting more dollars into the classroom ensures that resources are utilized where they have the greatest impact, ultimately fostering a more effective and equitable education system for all students.
To keep our neighborhoods safe and maintain quality of life, it's crucial to support law enforcement efforts in reducing crime, particularly related to drug trafficking on our highways. Enhanced border security and collaborative initiatives between local, state, and federal agencies play a vital role in intercepting fentanyl or human trafficking before they reach our communities. By supporting our police, we not only protect our streets but also prevent the spread of addiction, thefts, and associated crimes. A united front in law enforcement ensures a safer environment for all, reinforcing our commitment to community well-being.
Safeguarding the state’s IT infrastructure and personal data from foreign bad actors and blackmailers is crucial to maintaining both security and service continuity. The recent hack of the Kansas Supreme Court underscores the vulnerabilities that can lead to costly breaches and potential service disruptions. Strengthening cybersecurity measures and investing in advanced protection technologies are essential steps to mitigate these risks. By prioritizing robust security protocols, we can better protect sensitive information, prevent financial losses, and ensure that critical services remain reliable and accessible to all.
On August 2nd of 2022, the people of Kansas spoke with a constitutional right to abortion. I have never and will never advocate for a total abortion ban. I will work to ensure women are given the health care they need and not let this personal, complex, and divisive issue be decided by politicians.
